Bug Description

File Sync wont start on Win7x64.
I have reinstalled the client from older version 2 to newest version 2.
And if you click on stop, it does not respond just gives error message "Ubuntu One experianced an error"
"Sorry, an error as occurred and Ubuntu One needs to close."
Details have
DeadReferenceError
'Calling Stale Broker'
Hope this helps as since version 1 I have not been able to sync.
Thanks
TJ

Same problem here. I have Win7x64 as well. It worked when I first installed it, but it stopped working after about a week or so. Others with the same problem have been posting in the ubuntu forums thread below:

Why is this problem "Unassigned". Also, many other forums are complaining, however, nobody is saying that it affects them. How are we supposed to solve this issue?

I have cleaned all my registry/files on disk contains *ubuntu* and after that ubuntuone worked fine for a while however bug appeared again now.

Could someone try these steps if its possible to reproduce bug:

1. Remove device from Devices tab, uninstall ubuntuone, clean registry from ubuntu, delete all ubuntu files from disk
2. Reinstall ubuntu one
3. Sign in, start setup and add 3 suggested folders: C:\Users\User\Documents & \Music & \Pictures
4. Let it sync
5. Go to settings tab, tick both unticked "Automatically sync all..."
6. Go to https://one.ubuntu.com/files/ and click New Folder, create any folder
7. Close ubuntu one from tray
8. Open task manager and kill processes windows-ubuntu-sso-login & ubuntuone-syncdaemon
9. Reopen ubuntu one now it will stuck at "File Sync starting..." forever

closing and reopening Ubuntu one doesnt fix that also STOP button do nothing, just error message appears "Calling Stale Broker"

Hello,

The syncing of Documents folder can introduce the bug - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/883926
Also, if username contains non-ascii symbols (e.g. accented characters or cyrillics) this can also break control panel.

If you have added Documents (My Documents) folder on Windows 7 (and most likely Vista) and the file sync is always "starting" then this is LP:883926 - feel free to click "Affects me too" on that bug.

Ubuntu One stuck on File Sync Starting ma be referred to:
 1. Documents folder was added to the sync - fixed in 2.0.3 (current at the time of writing) - LP:883926 - works first time after installation, does not work upon subsequent launch.
 2. Installation was performed as administrator and the folders were set with admin permission. This is also fixed in 2.0.3 but you might need to check the logs in C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\xdg\cache\ubuntuone\log\syncdaemon.log for permission-related messages. Please do not attach the log to the bug report since it may contain information about your files. You may want to archive the log dir and send it to <email address hidden> with a reference to this bug and e-mail you are using to access Ubuntu One account. - this was also fixed in 2.0.3

Good timing, I have been busy with start of new year,, but this morning I updated to 2.0.3 and so far good, all files are sync and it works after closing and/or disconnecting the client. Verified on Android and Ubuntu that files added in Windows were synced. Also added some weird folders and files, no issues as of yet.
This bug may be closed with 2.0.3.
Thank You
Tom
