Bug Description

I installed recently U1 v2.0 for windows.

I would like to report that while the U1-syncdeamon is running no tray icon is displayed. Also, no notifications are displayed during the syncing process.

Hello, and thanks for helping us improve Ubuntu One!

The current version doesn't have any notifications. It's something we are adding in our next release.

About the tray icon: syncdaemon has no UI and doesn't display the icon. To get it you have to start ubuntuone-control-panel-qt which is the responsible for all UI duties. It should happen automatically if you logout and login again.

Hi Roberto,

and thanks for the immediate reply.

I logged out and then in again and I even restarted my computer but after logging in to my account there is no U1 tray icon. Also, after logging in, the sync daemon is not running and I have to manually start it through "start/programs/Ubuntu One/Ubuntu One"

To help me debug it, could you, from a CMD window, run this command? [exact path may change depending on windows version]

"c:\Program Files\ubuntuone\dist\ubuntuone-control-panel-qt.exe" --minimized --with-icon

If that works, then there was probably a problem adding it to the autostart, and we can fix it rather easily.

Hello Roberto,

your command did the job and the U1 icon appeared on the system tray.

What should I do now? Should I add this command on my windows startup programs?

Yes, I suspect something failed in the initial setup, but if you add it to your startup, things should work normally from now on.

Once you tell me it's working I'll mark the bug as fixed.

Ok, it is working with this workaround.

That's great news. I am marking as invalid, but only because there is no "we worked around it" option :-)
