Can't delete contact's info in web UI

Bug Description
Originally this appeared to be for the notes field (based on my original description) but this is for all text fields in a contact.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open https:/
2. Click on a contact
3. Click "Edit contact" link
4. Enter some text in a text field (like Notes, Suffix, Middle Name, etc.) and save the contact
5. Click "Edit contact" link
6. Delete contents of the text field and save the contact
7. Click the "Edit contact" link
Result: Cleared text field still has content
Expected result: Cleared text field is empty
Workaround for now is to leave a space in the field rather than leaving it empty.

This is because we assume that '' for a field means no change. This is incorrect :)
