Bug Description

i;m getting a "Server Error Something has gone wrong (500)" when i try to access the contacts page for several days now.
I think this came up when i made changes via evolution to a contact that didn't had an e-mail address on it at the first place, instead it had just the mobile phone number.
I have almost all my contacts written in my native language (greek).
I'm using the ubuntu-one ppa and previously syncing was working correctly with everything, files/contacts/notes.
Please ask if there is more info/logs i can provide.

Hi Nicola, can you investigate this?

The oops page template was not displaying an oopsid, but Joshua fixed that yesterday so it should be available on any errors that happen after todays rollout. I hope that you can identify the problem without the oopsid by searching for oops reports from yesterday that resulted in 500 errors on the contacts page. Ask Guillermo if you want some grep patterns for easily searching the oops logs on buffaloberry.

Sure, I'm on it. For my info, what's oopsid, and how can I access it?

I cannot find any oopses on /contacts in the production logs for Jan. 12 and up to three days before. Gourgi, is this still happening to you? If it is, can you try again and tell us the exact time you do? Thanks.

i also want to note that contacts sync correctly between my u1 installations.
i added a testing contact and it synced to my lucid install.
so the problem is on the web interface exclusively.

I got this just a few moments ago. a few more details. Months ago I uninstalled One and then a month or so ago I reinstalled it. I finally got around to trying to sync Notes and in the connection process (via button in Tomboy Prefs) I am asked to add this machine. The machine is already added & I've been syncing files for a month.

Now I get that 500 error when trying to look at contacts & notes via web UI. Last night I was able to access everything via web UI (even though Notes were out of date relative to what I have in Tomboy).

Not sure if this is related to this thread or not, so I apologize if I'm out of line here.

At the risk of making just noise...

I can now see my (non-synced) Notes & my (synced) Contacts via the web UI but I can not remove what is really a duplicate of "this machine" in my list of machines.

I also get an error msg from Tomboy but there is nothing in ~/.tomboy.log.

hth,
Greg

Maybe this is bug 527767. Maybe. Will do more research.

Hi there, I've been getting this error for months too now. My error number is OOPS-ID-1593appserver38772 I've just tried accessing it again (Wed May 12 07:25:03 UTC 2010), and see it has the same error. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post this here, but it seems exactly relevant. I don't seem to have permission to access bug#527767. thanks Andrew

Maybe bug #527767 is private ?

Anyway, this bug is solved for me now. I don't get an OOPS-ID when accessing concacts from the web UI anymore.
I realised that my problem was some contacts that i copied from my gmail addressbook. So the fix was "easy" :

1) I exported my evolution's UbuntuOne addressbook into .vcard through evolution
2) Then i edited the .vcard with gedit and deleted the gmail contacts.
3) Then I opened desktop-couch's web interface "Futon" and completely deleted my contacts database :
xdg-open ~/.local/share/desktop-couch/couchdb.html
(see desktop couch documentation http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/desktopcouch/Documentation/ViewingMyData).
4) Last step was to re-import the .vcard addressbook in evolution and wait until it synced with U1 servers.

I hope this helps you a bit.
