Bug Description

I previously purchased one song from an album. I liked the track and decided later to purchase the entire album. Now I have two copies of the same track in my Library. Both the single track and the album were purchased through Ubuntu One Music Store, so U1MS should be smart enough not to duplicate that previous purchase.

Pete, are there 2 separate copies of this song in 2 separate places within your Ubuntu One account, when you go to the web site? If so, can you provide the example paths where they differ? You can hide the real path info, if you wish, and the "Purchased from Ubuntu One" can be omitted, like this:

/path/to/song1
/path/to/album/song2

What's important is the directory depth, and filename structure, here. If they are in separate directories, or if the second file got named 06 - Track 6 [copy].mp3 or similar for example. Thanks.

Or, if they are only duplicated in Banshee, and keep multiplying every time you restart Banshee, then this is the copy-on-import issue.

There is two copies of the same song in the ~/.ubuntuone/Purchased Music/${Artist}/${Album}/ directory.

You've Got The Love (2).mp3
You've Got The Love.mp3

Afaict, the file doesn't exist in my ~/Music directory.

Great, thanks. This is probably an issue with the download daemon on the server, which downloads the songs into Ubuntu One; so I'm moving it there, and marking the libubuntuone task Invalid (since it's in the package).

Changed in libubuntuone (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
Changed in ubuntuone-music-store:
assignee: nobody → Ubuntu One Foundations+ team (ubuntuone-foundations+)
status: New → Triaged

I got a similar behavior when I let Banshee download the lyrics and write them to the MP3 files. After some time the duplicates occured.
