Bug Description
On windows 7, with the most recent installer provided by Brian,
I added a ud folder from the folders tab in the control panel. This folder is marked as synced locally.
I unchecked it.
Then I checked it again, and got an error: Path should be a bytes sequence. See attachment.

On Windows, ubuntuone. platform. is_link expects an encoded byte string, not Unicode. On Linux, this is a straight pass-through to os.path.islink which will happily accept either bytes or Unicode.
