Bug Description
On Ubuntu 12.04:
1. disable networking from system menu
2. start u1 control panel from launcher
3. no error is shown, and:
If you then click on the account information tab, you will get an error dialog box with a user-unfriendly error message. See screenshot.
In fact, the error is even confusing as a debug message - is the second string supposed to be the host that wasn't found? Why is it empty?
Why is this the only tab that gets an error when presumably other tabs need a connection too? (Even the header needs a connection to know my name apparently, see bug 1000056 )
Finally, I clicked "close" and u1 control panel stayed up. What did I just close?

There are several bugs in the same vein.
Basically, we need to think a way not to break badly withut network.
Since we already have network detection and signaling, this is mostly about thinking, briefly discussing, and then swiftly implementing said thoughts. I put this in the capable hands of a gatox.
