This problem is really bad on my windows 7 computer. It takes several minutes before my computer is usable after I boot up and log in.

Is it really necessary to start to control panel process on every boot?

I've just joined launchpad and accidentally changed the status from triaged to confirmed.
It won't let me change the status back to triaged. Could someone who is authorised please put the status back to triaged. Thanks!

Bug description:
  collier@Nacho-Laptop:~$ lpbug ubuntuone-syncdaemon
  Description: Ubuntu 13.04
  Release: 13.04
N: Unable to locate package ubuntuone-syncdaemon
  unity 7.0.0
  Compiz 0.9.9.0
  metacity 2.34.13
  Mutter is not installed

The ubuntuone-syncdaemon uses about 260MB of RAM on my system when both the system and Ubuntuone are idle. Can this easily be reduced? Ubuntuone-syncdaemon is the process with the most RAM usage on my system. I am concerned that Ubuntuone's performance may decrease. I have noticed that previous versions did not require so much RAM.

How many files are you syncing?
How did you measure the memory usage?

My syncdaemon is using quite a bit more memory - 'top' reports:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
 3004 ayers 20 0 1582m 923m 151m S 0 23.4 33:07.46 ubuntuone-syncd
yes, that's one and a half GB VM where nearly a full GB is resident.

I had to increase fs.inotify.max_user_watches to actually sync 150K files/directories though. Also starting up the sync-daemon takes about 45-60 minutes to register all those files, during which time on CPU is constantly busy. (As I'm using and SSD the disk times seem negligible).

Using 12.04.3 LTS and ubuntuone-client-3.0.2-0ubuntu2: ubuntuone-syncd is using 1.2GB resident memory on a 4GB system (31% of available memory). Seems a little excessive.

I just removed ubuntuone-client on 14.04 due to excessive memory use by the syncdaemon, upwards of 1+gb - it was making my whole system unusable.
