Bug Description

As mentioned in bug #852107, I opened a new bug report for essentially the same thing but this time I am sure that there is no proxy.

Ubuntu one client windows 2.0.1 on windows 7 professional x64 just stops there. After a long time (wasn't really counting but must have been 15-20 minutes) it displayed the following error

AttributeError
"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_rootdir'"

At this point, it goes to the main client screen, but doesn't really work as it shows errors such as the following
AttributeError
"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'autoconnect_enabled'"

(now, here I should report that the client says after the error that it really needs to close, but keeps on working...)

I am absolutely sure that the network doesn't have a network proxy (well, not needed anyway), and the network firewall is premissive. I disabled the windows firewall to be certain, and from the network firewall, I have 2 other ubuntu one clients running successfully. (1 of them is a windows XP VM which works ok)

now on to some debugging. Firing up sysinternals TCPview, I don't even see a ubuntu one process trying to connect to the internet, and what seems very interesting is that process "windows-ubuntu-sso-login.exe" is listening on localhost:53000 while process "ubuntuone-control-panel-qt.exe" has 2-3 threads constantly trying to connect to localhost:53001(which obviously is closed)

Hello, and thanks for helping us with this problem!

This is a known bug. The port 53001 is meant to be open by ubuntuone-syncdaemon. This bug is because syncdaemon is not starting, or is starting and crashing.

The main bug for this issue is #855428 so I am marking this as duplicate.
