Bug Description

What happens: When choosing which directories to sync on my Windows 7 64bit U1 install the directory picker always defaults to the C:\Program Files (x86)\ubuntuone\dist folder which contains U1 binaries. Selecting a file and pressing Choose has no effect.

What I would expect to happen: The picker should default to something more sensible like "my computer" and, if it is actually wanted behavior to display files, ask the user to share the directory containing the file instead of doing nothing.

Any reason not to use the native directory chooser dialog? It is much better suited for picking directories compared to a non-native file picker dialog. Sure it won't fit the u1 themeing but noone expects that of native dialogs users already know anyways. It would also prevent themeing inconsistencies like seen in the attached screenshot.

Hello, and thanks for helping us improve Ubuntu One!

There is a reason not to use the native file dialog: there is a bug in Qt, which means the user can choose things that are not folders in Windows 7, so we had to switch to the non-native one until that's fixed.

I'll look into the other issues you mention.
