Bug Description

I have installed beta 2 as per instructions (uninstalled beta version first) on Panasonic CF-52 laptop running Win XP SP3. Installation went successful, but the client could not log in. Giving me following error:

'NoneType' object has no attribute 'makefile'

I tried to log in trough web and changed password to comply with new password rules. Same error appears.

Regards,
isotope.

The only thing I see in the log is a failure to authenticate to our servers.

Could you please:

1) Verify that the time and date on your computer is correct
2) Close your session, and then stat Ubuntu One from the menu?

Thanks for taking the time to post a bug report and help us improve Ubuntu One!

Ok, here is the story.
I have tried to run the client for a few times, and finally it came up with more descriptive error:
cannot find server @ login.ubuntu.com
So, I brought my laptop home (all those things happened at work) and it worked like a charm! So, I think it was a connectivity issue. Ubuntu One client just failed to provide meaningful error description, I think? Now it is all fine and synced.
Anyway I'm installing beta 2 on my Win7 netbook tonight and will let you know of the result. Also I will take this laptop back to work and see how it behaves after initial successful sync.

Regards,
isotope.

does your work network have a proxy of some kind? if so, of what kind :)

That's probably the problem, then. This release doesn't have proxy support yet. It's a known problem and we will be working on it after the windows release.

If you could verify that it works at your home and not at the office, then we can close the issue, or change its scope to "provide better feedback when there are connectivity problems".

I confirm that it does sync at my home network.
I believe this particular issue can be closed. Still some error descriptions could be more descriptive.

A pleasure working with you!

Closing and I'll add a task about better error messaging.

Moving it to be a dup of proxy support (bug #387308).
