Bug Description

I go into Ubuntu One Preferences and click 'Connect' but the Ubuntu One message shows 'Disconnected'. The message sometimes changes to 'Synchronising ...', I can't read the rest because it immediately reverts to 'Disconnected'.

Running 'u1sdtool -s' in a terminal gives

State: WAITING
    connection: With User With Network
description: waiting before try connecting again
    is_connected: False
    is_error: False
    is_online: False
    queues: WORKING_ON_BOTH

Logging in to my Ubuntu One website confirms that no files have been downloaded (0 bytes Used (0.0%)). I am running Ubuntu Lucid 64 bits

Colin,
Sorry to hear you are having an issue with Ubuntu One. If you would like to help us further debug the problem that would greatly be appreciated. We would need the client log to start analyzing the problem. Please attach the logs to this bug report using the 'Add Attachment or Patch' button at the bottom of the page. Just zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here. You can zip the folder by right-clicking on it and selecting compress.

After you attach the logs you can change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.

thank you,
duanedesign

I have had the same problem for half a year or so. It worked for a while last year, then stopped. I am using Ubuntu 10.04

Ubuntu One always lists as Disconnected in Ubuntu One Preferences no matter what I do (trying to connect, restart or removing computer then adding it). The output from u1sdtool - s is
ro@personal-desktop:~$ u1sdtool -s
State: READY
    connection: Not User With Network
    description: ready to connect
    is_connected: False
    is_error: False
    is_online: False
    queues: WORKING_ON_BOTH

The log files would indicate an authentication problem, but I can login easily.
ro@personal-desktop:~/.cache/ubuntuone/log$ cat syncdaemon-exceptions.log.2011-08-03_19-37-45
2011-08-03 19:37:27,136 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.ActionQueue - ERROR - The request 'oauth_authenticate' failed with the error:

AUTHENTICATION_FAILED

I have attached the entire log as suggested by Duane. Please help, I love Ubuntu and would really like this to work.

Cheers and thanks
Ole

Hello uniomni,
This bug report has been marked as Expired and your cause may be different. In any case please check whether your system clock is running properly and if not, install and run ntpdate command -
sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org
You may want to stop ntpd service if it is already running before running ntpdate.
Additionally please try re-authorizing Ubuntu One by following the steps mentioned in https://one.ubuntu.com/help/faq/what-should-i-do-if-authentication-fails-auth_failed-state/
