Bug Description

Every file I add to the Ubuntu One folder has u1conflict added to the end of the file name when it attempts to sync with Ubuntu One. There are no conflicting files or folders on Ubuntu One.

Mike,
Sorry you are having problems with Ubuntu One. There was an issue with upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic that prevented Ubuntu One from properly receiving updates. Right before karmic was released, a version bump was performed from 1.0 to 1.1 for ppa; Those who installed jaunty ppa packages, got 1.1 version. After update to Karmic, the upgrade system ignored ubuntuone packages, since base system contained 1.0-something and the ppa version was 1.1.You will need to purge the ubuntuone-client and reinstall it.

First make a back up of your Ubuntu One directory. To do this open a Terminal (Applications > Accesories > Terminal) and run the following:

mv ~/Ubuntu\ One/ ~/Ubuntu\ One_old/

then uninstall ubuntu one:

sudo apt-get purge ubuntuone-client* python-ubuntuone-storage*

and to reinstall:

sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-client* python-ubuntuone-storage*

Then test it to make sure it is working properly. Put a small text file in the newly created ~/Ubuntu One/ directory and make sure that syncs correctly.
If all goes well, move the files and folders from ~/Ubuntu One_old/ to ~/Ubuntu One/ and the sync should happen.

The way to resolve conflicts is to pick from the original file (if there is one) and the conflict file that you wish to keep and to delete the conflict file or move the conflict file over the original one, depending on your choice.

If after you update your client the problem persists please come back here and change the bug 'Status' back to 'New'. You can change the status by clicking the Yellow circle with the exclamation point next to the 'Status' at the top of the page.
thank you,

Thanks for the help. I ran the commands as shown above. However, now UbuntuOne does not show up under my applications menu and UbuntuOne cloud does not appear in the tool bar. This is true even after I run UbuntuOne from the System, Preferences menu.

I get this quite a lot right now. And I have a fresh lucid install, no upgrade or anything.

Hi!

We would need DEBUG logs to find the issue here.

You should do the following:

1. stop the syncdaemon client ("u1sdtool --quit") and be sure it's fully stopped ("ps -eaf | grep ubuntuone-client" should give you nothing).

2. put a file named syncdaemon.conf in your $HOME/.config/ubuntuone directory with the following information:

[logging]
level = DEBUG

3. restart the client.

4. attach here the logs, just zip you $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

Thanks for your time and help!

This is happening to me today. Repeatedly even after fixing the files. I haven't used more than one device. Lucky I had backups.
