Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

The Ubuntu One folder in Nautilus shows a "Connect" button. Pressing it greys for a fraction of a secnd and then returns to saying "Connect". The applet menu says greyed out "Your files are up to date" which is not true, and has a "Disconnect" item. Choosing disconnect makes no change anywhere and the item remains as "Disconnect". Sorry for no screen shot but it won't let me take one while the menu is active.

The only way to unwedge u1 at this point is a reboot (a logout/login is not sufficient).

A guess as to the cause is that I frequent hibernate (to disk) and suspend (to ram) the machine.

Roger,
I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. If you would like to help debug the problem that would be greatly appreciated. You can do the following in order to provide important details that will help determine the root cause of this issue.

1) Quit the Ubuntu One client. R-click on the Ubuntu One applet and select 'Quit'

2) Open Applications->Accessories->Terminal, then run the command:
  mv ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log_old && mkdir ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log

3) Run the following in the Terminal to open/create this file:
 gedit ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

    #Add the following two (2) lines to this file and save:
    [__main__]
    log_level = DEBUG

4) Open Ubuntu One Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One

5) Let Ubuntu One run for a bit, copy some files into your Ubuntu One Folder. Then attach the following logs to this bug: ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log & ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

You can attach logs to this bug report by clicking the 'Add Attachment or patch' button at the bottom of the page. Thank you for filing this bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better.
thank you,

Do you want it in normal running (which is what the above instructions would achieve) or when there is an error?

I don't know how to provoke the error other than it occurs a few days after my last reboot and some number of cycles of suspend/hibernate although that may be a red herring. My main point in filing this bug was so that if anyone else sees the same issues they know they are not alone.

Do you still want many days worth of logs, or have a way of collecting useful state information once it is in the borked state?
(Feel free to just give a list of tools like lsof/strace etc - I've been a developer since long before either Linux or Python existed.)

It is stuck again right now, but you have given no response to my previous message.

Quiting and restarting the applet fixed the problem. Before restarting (and without debug) syncdaemon-exceptions was empty. After restarting (but everything working) it had two items, attached.

The log ended as show below. It was preceded with several hours of the MARK message.
