Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Since I upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic, I noticed that Synaptic listed several packages as "local or obsolete," including the Ubuntu One-related packages. I tried following these instructions to uninstall and reinstall the client:

https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+faq/778

But, the Ubuntu One tray applet indicates that Ubuntu One is not connected. Clicking on "connect" in the tray applet's menu has no apparent effect.

In addition to the instructions in the Web page above, I had deleted the /.local/share/ubuntuone, /.cache/ubuntuone, and /.config/ubuntuone directories from the accounts of other users of this computer, although I don't believe they have ever used Ubuntu One. Also, after the initial reinstall of Ubuntu One, I also tried deleting the "Couch" tokens from Passwords and Encryption Keys, and I tried removing this machine from the list of installed machines via the Web interface. None of these made any difference, and I haven't been prompted for a password.

Brian, can you confirm whether this is still an issue?

Yes. I just launched Ubuntu One from the Gnome menu, and there's the
icon in the notification area that shows it being disconnected.
Right-clicking and selecting "connect" has no apparent effect.

I've been keeping current with patches.
