Bug Description
Ubuntu One continues to surprise and delight.
Today, after weeks of using it without too much trouble, I turned on my laptop and discovered that all my local files were gone. The whole Ubuntu One directory is completely cleaned out. Nothing in the trash. Gone like they were never there.
Fortunately, the files still seem to be on the server, so I haven't completely lost all my data. However, since Ubuntu One is not consistent about synchronizing, I can't be sure that what is on the server is the latest versions.
Franklly, Ubuntu One is in dire need of some manual controls, like Mozilla's Weave does. The ability to force a sync and select to merge data, or local overwrites server, or server overwrites local. I'd love to be able to just download all my files from the server, so I can continue working on them. But so far as I can tell, the web interface only allows people to download files one at a time.
I was kind of hoping this close to the release of Karmic that I wouldn't be quite so surprised by Ubuntu One's behaviour. It's not that I don't appreciate all the work that goes into it, it's just that I'm going to have to reserve my trust in this particular software for a while longer.

Just a note to say that I am dropping out from this bug report.
I gave up on Ubuntu One. I understand it is in beta stage, but it's inconsistency in synchronizing files, it's main core feature, has gone on too long to ignore.
I have switched to Dropbox.
I hope Ubuntu One becomes usable sometime in the future.
Good luck with development.
