Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I installed a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 beta on my computer.

After I started UbuntuOne-client via Applications - > Internet - > UbuntuOne, the icon on GNOME system tray showed it was not connected. I opened the Ubuntu One folder under my home directory, it also showed that it was not connected.

But, when I copied files into Ubuntu One folder under my home directory, a system notification came up saying that "UbuntuOne is updating your files." Well, that was not true...Apparently, it was not even connected.

Hi Forrest,

My apologies for the connection issues you've been experiencing and the inconvenience this has caused you. It appears you were affected by an intermittent server side issue that is being addressed. Can you try to connect again and let me know if you are still having problems?

Thank you,

Joshua

hello, first and foremost I'd like to make clear that I find the ubuntu one a fantastic idea and well executed this far.
with all beta testing there is bound to be some glitches and I'm very-VERY happy to be part of this new beginning!!

I'm NOT very good with understanding tech talk so I'll just ad info simply

i've tried uploading files directly to ubuntu one from the web site and it takes for-ever (not literaly) meaning that uploading occurs at 25-30 kB/sec (if lucky) although I've got a good connection. NONETHELESS this is also the upload speed by witch my gmail account picks up files that I wish to email/share... could it be something with ubuntu 9.10 uploading speed or packaging? (i nearly have no idea what i'm talking about here, so excuse if i just said something completely and utterly invalid)

so then I found out about the ubuntu one file ON my computer and tried to sync files from there. No luck or too slow. after googling a little bit I compressed and split my files to 10kB packages at which point ubuntu one gave a files are up to date note and stayed off line.

when I switch my computer on it says that it is updating and then goes into disconnected mode with a "files are up to date" message

Is there a specific compression that would "assist" package up-loading?

thanks for your work on this grate idea!

Hi!

We would need DEBUG logs to find the issue here.

You should do the following:

1. stop the syncdaemon client and be sure it's fully stopped ("ps -eaf | grep ubuntuone-client" should give you nothing).

2. put a file named syncdaemon.conf in your $HOME/.config/ubuntuone directory with the following information:

[__main__]
log_level = DEBUG

3. restart the client.

4. attach here the logs, just zip you $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

Thanks for your time and help!
