Bug Description

When running the UbuntuOne gnome client applet, the notification icon never appears. The icons in the notification area briefly move as if it's creating the icon, but they just move back and the icon never shows up. When I look at the system monitor or try to run it again, it says the ubuntuone-client-applet is running, and if I kill it and run it in a terminal, there are no errors and it stays running. The icon just doesn't actually show up for some reason. In all other ways it works (such as the files are synced correctly), just no icon.

This also happens in Mint 7 Universal (gnome)

This sounds like a duplicate of bug 413661. If so, the disappearing icon is by design and it now only appears when actively syncing files.

It doesn't appear when syncing either, but only on my laptop. On my desktop it shows up when syncing, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. They both have the same apt sources, and so the same versions of any packages. When I have time I'll look through what packages that might be related are installed on my desktop but not my laptop, since it seems like it might be a dependency issue.

I'm marking this as a duplicate for now. Scott, if you think you have more info on what might be different between the configs, then please add that here and we'll follow up on it. Thanks!
