Bug Description
Ubuntu One should be availiable for people using Ubuntu systems before 9.04, such as 8.10, 8.04, or even earlier. I agree that most people will use 9.04, but there are Ubuntu derivates available that have not yet updated to 9.04 (e.g. Easy Peasy, Eeebuntu, ...)

Hi Jakub,
Thanks for trying Ubuntu One.
ubuntuone-client depends on python2.6, that isn't available in pre-9.04 releases.
All dependencies could be backported, but there is the change from site-packages to dist-packages that makes this backporting a quite complex task.
There is a Question about this: https:/ /answers. edge.launchpad. net/ubuntuone- client/ +question/ 75250
