Bug Description

I am using a netbook with ubuntu on it and with only an ssd for my home folder. Thus there are only about 1 GB of Space which is easily filled when using ubuntu one. Would be great if i could tell ubuntu one to choose another folder (in my case an inserted SD Card) for synchronizing.

Uwe Hauck: Thanks for the feedback!

This sounds like an interesting idea, I'm triaging to someone who can better determine if this could be in our plan for the future of Ubuntu One.

Changed in ubuntuone-client:
assignee: nobody → lucio (lucio)
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Triaged
assignee: lucio (lucio) → Lucio Torre (lucio.torre)

It would also be REALLY cool in cases like this if we could toggle sync based on the targeted FS's mounted status.

IOW if teh folder on the SD card is not mounted (because the SD card has been removed) we should not try to sync to it.
Probably want to also be mindful of not automatically syncing to a similar piece of media mounted at the same location (another SD card that has data the user is working with, but is not a piece of media the user wants Ubuntu One sync to write to).

+1 here.
My $HOME needs to be small an clean, because its backuped of my companies backup system. I cant set another 2GB there.
This makes UbuntuOne useless for me - anyway it seems to be a great service (in conjunction with encfs)

It would be cool definitely to be able to pick any folder to back up using this service without having to copy it to a designated ubuntu one folder. Spideroak already does this for example.

Hi, I'm marking this a duplicate of an existing bug. It is definitely a feature we are planning.
