Bug Description

When i create a symlink on "~/Ubuntu One/My files" to a local folder, it does not sync the folder and files inside it.
Dropbox does it.

I think it is more useful to work like that, and not the other way around: moving folders to "~/Ubuntu One/My files" and then creating a symlink on its original place.

Thank you for the report! We will consider adding the functionality to sync symlinks in the future. I'm moving this to the ubuntuone-client project since that is where the work would be done to implement this.

I'd like to add my support for this feature. I like Dropbox's implementation of this feature more than the current UbuntuOne implementation as well.

The client absolutely needs sysmlink support. Should also be able to create those links through the applet i.e. "Add Folder"

It's cool that everyone's showing their support for this feature, which I agree would make Ubuntu One filesync even better! I have a friendly suggestion though:

If you wish to just show your support for this feature, without adding anything to the discussion, this is possible by clicking the 'change' link in "This bug doesn't affect me (change)" Above the bug description. This will show the developers how many people are affected by the bug or feel the feature is an important one, without watering down the discussion too much.

I'll just add to Eric's comment (if it isn't already obvious) that you need to be logged in to launchpad to see the "This bug does/doesn't affect me" link.

I just noticed that symlinks and multiple synced folders are already being taken care of by developers, on a more ancient bug which is already marked as "high" priority.
I'll mark this bug as a duplicate just to clean up a little bit.

I'm receiving " Sorry, you don't have permission to access this page. " when I try to access the bug that this is supposed to be a duplicate of... anyone know why? It makes it difficult to comment on the status of duplication as such. Regardless, if anyone has a status update on whether U1 can symlink yet I'd like to know. Thanks.

The problem you are having with the permissions is a local problem. Please try using a new profile. That is assuming you can not open the page at all.
