Can you try the following steps?

1. If it is open, quit Ubuntu One's control panel by right clicking on the tray icon and choosing "Quit"
2. Hit Win+W and then type "credential"
3. Select "Manage Windows Credentials"
4. In the "Generic Credentials" section, click on any items that have Ubuntu One in their name.
5. Choose the "Remove" option.

At that point you can restart Ubuntu One, provide your username and password again, and it should work.

That's a template I've been sending a few people - it works for some, doesn't work for others. We're still trying to reproduce this issue and figure it out.

Above workaround did NOT work for me. Windows 8 64bit. Anything I can provide to help troubleshoot/debug?

Brian, the following worked for me (Win8 64-bit):

1. ) Kill Ubuntu One (including from Task Manager)
2.) Remove the credential
3.) Launch Ubuntu One and enter sign-in details (at which point it crashed with the same error)
4.) Kill Ubuntu One (including from Task Manager)
5.) Launch Ubuntu One at which point it worked normally.

So, it seems like it just required one additional clean re-launch (but without removing the credential this time) for it to use my sign-in details successfully.

Hi, I had the same issue too.

I found that killing from the systray alone didn't resolve the issue.

I had to view all processes in the task manager and kill everything ubuntu after removing the credential as stated.

After that, all worked and it connected.

I had the same issues with W8 64bits and steps performed in comment #5 worked for me too.

I had the same issue, and the procedure explained in the comment from pjarvi (patrickjarvi) worked flawlessly for me, too. Thanks a lot, Patrick.

Hope this issue can be solved in the software by the dev team, because many users of win8 64 bits might just give up (there are some entries in ubuntu one's website which state that it is supported on windows 7, no windows 8 explicitly shown, which also contributes to the probability of the user giving up. This doesn't occur in all instances, but might decrease the number of clients using this platform and don't have the capacity/willingness to figure out how to fix it).

Comment #4 (removing credentials) worked for me without needing to kill the client. Win8 64bit Enterprise Eval

Not working for me. Quitting client and removing credentials seemed to work at first: it brought me to the login mask (which I couldn't reach before) and then to a "logged in message".
After that the error message showed again, and the client brought me back to the welcome window.
Using Windows 8 and UbuntuONE client ubuntuone-4.2.0
