Edits lost and no .u1conflict files found

Bug Description
Editing a .tex file on my office computer (Ubuntu 12.04, using Kile). Edits consisted of changes to the .tex file, new .dvi, .ps, and .pdf files generated, and several changes to figures.
Today I was planning to submit the paper, but the .tex files is out-of date, and does not containt the edits. The modified date on the file is listed as the day after the edits were made. The .pdf file was a hybrid -- it was a version generated while I was making the edits, but was not the final version. The figures appear to be unaffected by this. There are no .u1conflict files in the directory.
Given the modified date on the bad files, I think that my home computer (windows 7) uploaded the old versions as new versions, and overwrote my work.
