Bug Description

Shared folders that are inside the Ubuntu One folder show up as shared, both in Nautilus and in the web interface. Folders outside of Ubuntu One behave differently.

I tried to share a folder, located in my Home directory but outside of Ubuntu One, with another person. When I did this, there was no change of colour in the web interface and in Nautilus nothing to indicate that the share had been successful. I ended up trying repeatedly, and eventually assumed that sharing of such folders wasn't allowed.

However, running u1sdtool --list-shared shows all the shared folders, including the ones I thought hadn't worked! (And I think the poor guy got spammed with lots of notification emails, but as he's my son, it's possible for me to explain easily.)

But there's no way that I can see of removing the shares if I decide to do so later. I would expect that if a folder is shared, its status will be clearly visible, and changeable, whether it's inside the Ubuntu One folder or not. Ideally, I should be able to do this from Nautilus and the web interface.

Update:

After rebooting, I notice that the folder shows up as shared in Nautilus, but I can't stop the sharing - the option is greyed out.

It still doesn't show as shared in the web interface. So I can't stop the sharing there, either.

After further investigation, I've discovered that:

It requires either rebooting or restarting the syncdaemon before the the shared status emblem on shared folders becomes visible. Personally, I would expect just a refresh of the Nautilus window to achieve that. (I believe that there's another bug that mentions this, but I can't find it at the moment.)

In the web interface, the sharing information is in fact visible *inside* the folders. When seen from the outside, the folder icons don't change appearance, giving the impression that nothing has happened. This is what I found confusing.
