Bug Description

When I select "Ubuntu One Cloud" mode in U1 music apps I've got error "Oops, something went wrong" after pushing "Sign In" button.

This happens because the phone clock is not configured correctly so OAuth fails due to time difference.

WORKAROUND:
Go to Settings / Time & Date and set Automatic (Use network-provided values)

Hi,

Thank you for taking time to report this issue. Sorry for the delay.

Do you (bug author and Morten) have Ubuntu One Files installed as well?

Hi Slava,

Thanks for replying to my e-mail. What is your Android version?

Please try following these steps, and let us know which helped. That would be most helpful!

1) Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Ubuntu One Music -> Clear data. Then try logging in to U1M again.
If it doesn't help:
2) Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Ubuntu One Files -> Clear data. Then try logging in to U1M again.
If it doesn't help:
3)Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Ubuntu One Music -> Clear data
and Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Ubuntu One -> Remove account
Then try logging in to U1M again.
If it doesn't help:
4) Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Ubuntu One Files -> Uninstall (login provider for U1M, if you ask why)
Then try logging in to U1M.

If any of the steps, starting with 1) up to 4) helped, please let us know which. Much thanks!

Hi Michal,

Just yesterday I wanted to write because I solved the problem on my
galaxy tab. I thought that the time zone tab on the galaxy could not be
changed(as I said, wrongly, in my first email).Instead, looking better
in the settings, I set the correct time zone (Rome in my case), I set
the correct time again (because once changed the timezone, the time is
changed).

Thank you for your help and I hope the solution works for others. Some
time ago I had the same problem with the token "Ubuntu One" on my
laptop. Why "Ubuntu One" and "ubuntu one music" using a system as
complicated based on time zones for the token?

Thanks again,
Francesco.

Now I am in Saudi Arabia and I set time and date to be updated automaticаlly and U1 works :-)

I don't know what help, relocation to Saudi, or changing time and date option :-)

Svyatoslav - thanks for letting us know. I would believe it's updating the time. Otherwise, I would suggest everyone move to Saudi Arabia! ;)

Franceso - Thank you for replying. Re: "Why "Ubuntu One" and "ubuntu one music" using a system as
complicated based on time zones for the token?" -- it's a security measure. We don't care about your timezone, but OAuth authentication scheme requires little time difference between client and the server. If the timezone is wrongly set, it confuses OAuth. I admit we should improve on that, and I will raise the issue again in the team.

jhellen, Simon - could you please verify if your device time is correct? (Usually setting Date & time settings to automatic helps.) The person, who filed the bug, has just stated everything works as normal once the time settings are correct.

Having three people confirm a proper time zone settings fix the problem, I'm inclined to think it is the device setting causing it.

Morten, Jukka - could you please follow what other users have done and let us know, if setting proper time zone & date & time resolves the problem? (usually, Automatic settings to the right job for date & time)

I would appreciate that, thank you!

Can't help :( I gave up using this. I wanted to believe in it but it was the buggiest thing I've tried on Android. Tried it on a HTC Desire and a Motorola Defy.

Hope you'll squash this bug also. I'll check it out in a year or two again. Thanks anyway for helping us users!
