http://developer.ubuntu.com/webapps/, what you see very high on Google when you search for "ubuntu web apps", is a broken link.

This bug raises a question in my mind:

Given that the developer portal changes its structure, including page deletes, renames, and moves, is it a reasonable requirement that for every such page rename, delete, move, we create and maintain in perpetuity a redirect so that web searches that return out of date URLs land somewhere useful?

An alternative would be a default landing page for missing URLs that provides a message saying something like: "Sorry, this page does not exist. Please navigate from the site banner along the top to find current content."

With this one decision, we can reduce the amount of maintenance required and the number of redirects we need to maintain as the site continues its evolution.

Is the particular page (/webapps/) still a concern? I can't see it in the Google ranking still.

That links generally shouldn't break, I can agree with, but I don't think a bug report is the best way to have this discussion right now.
