Highlighted syntax doesn't look stylish enough

This is intended as a discussion rather than a proper bug report but I couldn't find any mailing list and the project's Launchpad page says to use bugs as a means to feedback. So here it is.

A syntax highlighter used on the developer.ubuntu.com looks okay but may look better:

- not use line numbers, they don't provide anything but visual clutter on short snippets
- use a style theme matching the site's style

I'm the author of a very comprehensive syntax highlighter highlight.js (http://softwaremaniacs.org/soft/highlight/en/) and I'd like to humbly propose using it instead of the SyntaxHighlighter. If you're interested, we can work out the details of what the switch would cost in terms of the effort and if it's at all worth it.

Can you provide an example of your highlighter? How does it work with a wordpress site? Django?

You can see highlighting example directly on the site (which, after two years, moved to a different URL: https://highlightjs.org/ but the old one will happily redirect you too). It is a JavaScript library, so it doesn't care what runs your server.

Daniel, I'm not sure if your question was for me, but from what I remember the page you're referring to uses the same library as before, so nothing has really changed. Anyway, I'm not the one to make this call, I am simply offering a different syntax highlighter that in my opinion might suit the site better but I let whoever maintains it be the judge.
