Thanks Azu for your report and your help to make Ubuntu better!

Checking some details:
This is fixed upstream in 4.0.6 and 3.5.15, thereby Zesty and later are good already.

The change is:
4.x: https://github.com/squid-cache/squid-4/commit/dba46511ff366985796df5249672ee29395c3a33
3.x: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~squid/squid/3.5/revision/13991

@Azu - since it is needed for SRU and verification, do you know what the steps to recreate this are? This is also needed to correctly rate the severity I think especially since the fix is more than just a line one needs to decide on SRUing this or not.

At least from the source containing the assert, this could go back to Trusty.
