After kernel update Kubuntu won't start

I have Kubuntu 14.04

I can't boot on latest versions of linux kernels provided for Kubuntu 14.04. Kubuntu shows "Kubuntu" boot logo and PC completely does not responds at all for a long time until hardware reboot. The last version which I can boot is 3.13.0-88-generic. Next versions: 3.13.0-91-generic and 3.13.0-92-generic has this trouble.

I wanted to update to Kubuntu 16.04 but I'm afraid that I will not able to boot with latest kernels. From another side I'm not sure that problem exactly in kernel.

I'm ready to provide any additional information.

You reported this bug against the 'shim' package. 3.13.0-92-generic is the first version of the kernel for trusty that introduces a new module signing enforcement policy; so this could have been related to shim, but you also report that 3.13.0-91-generic did not boot for you, and that version did not include the module signing enforcement policy. Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.4 stable kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

With kernel 4.4 i don't see my problem.

Everything works well except mounting encryptfs to home folder - it not mounted on boot. I think it's another kind of problem.

The proposed Xenial kernel is now based on 4.4.16 and available in the -proposed repository. Would it be possible for you to test this latest kernel and post back if it resolves this bug?
