Bug Description

My my T450 has Intel 7265 wifi. Sometimes it just seems to disappear from network manager. I end up having to rmmod the iwlwifi module and re-add it to make it see wireless access points again.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.6 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Hard to know. This laptop is a week old (to me) so 16.04 is the first release it's had.

Happy to test 4.6-rc3.

Ok, now this is interesting. Looks like probably not a kernel bug but perhaps network manager?

Installed the updated upstream kernel deb, suspended, waited, woke the laptop.

I'd been assuming the network was broken because (as you can see from the screenshot) network manager shows no connection to wifi) (although oddly it shows a wired connection when I have no cables attached).

So it seems not a kernel bug after all.

the problem as same for me,
I have worked good few years
Until Ubuntu 16.04 daily 20160406 works fine. the release run on the kernel 4.4.16.
that is, the Wifi has no problem until got 16.04 daily 20160415+later.
My WiFi connection failed mostly since I have upgrade to daily 20160415 + later.
The network manger dosen't show any WiFi spots around me.
I am using both wired and wireless lan. Wired perfect works.
I desire to get that fixed in the next release.
Thank a lot.

I had exactly the same problem too on 15.10. Restarting the iwlwifi kernel module fixed it, but that's not ideal.

My machine is a thinkpad x1 carbon (3rd generation) and device is a Intel 7265D wifi device.
