TextField's placeHolderText invisible inside a dialog

Using a dark background in an application, a Dialog and a TextField inside that Dialog renders the placeholderText nearly invisible.

Note, the two visible labels have manually set the color to "black".

I can't reproduce it with the above snippet, both on rtm and stagiging the text is readable.

I pondered on this and found how to reproduce afterall: set any backgroundColor on the MainView. Whether it's black, green or orange the placeholder is no longer visible.

So what happens is that the backgroundColor causes the automatic switch to SuruDark which has a bad normal.backgroundColor.
