Bug Description

GNOME upstream has released new bugfix releases of the at-spi2 stack, version 2.6.1, affecting at-spi2-atk and at-spi2-core. Please consider these updates for quantal. This update shoudl be considered under the GNOME micro release exception.

Test case:
Make sure that at-spi2-core v2.6.1 continues to work as expected.

Regression potential:
The chances of regression are extremely low, as this release is a bugfix release.

Thanks Luke, it's too late for the release at this point, can you add the SRU infos to this bug? E.g Impact, Test Case, Regression potentiel ... the Test Case can be "make sure the new version keeps working without issue" if there is no a particular fix to try

  * New upstream release (LP: #1067554)
    - Make atk-bridge location empty in the schema, to fix problems with
multilib builds. (The key should no longer be needed and will be removed
      for 2.8.)
  * debian/patches/atk-adaptor-schema-gtk-2-0.patch: Refreshed

The only change included upstream in this new release is being reverted in the distro patch that's been refreshed. So the upload is a total no-op, and not appropriate for SRU. Rejecting it from the queue.

(I think the distro patch itself can probably be dropped, btw; but in any rate this doesn't rate an SRU.)

The at-spi2-core upload, meanwhile, includes an actual bugfix, so that seems worthwhile. Please clarify if you're intending this to be covered by the GNOME micro-release exception or if we should be doing actual tests for the correctness of this fix, and update the bug description accordingly, so we know what we should be doing with this SRU process-wise.

Rejected at-spi2-core from the proposed queue while awaiting a response on the above question. Please contact a member of the SRU team directly to have the package recovered from the reject queue once this information is available.

Hello Luke, or anyone else affected,

Accepted at-spi2-core into quantal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi2-core/2.6.1-0ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

After updating to at-spi2-core 2.6.1-0ubuntu0.1 from quantal-proposed, I can verify that at-spi2-core and its library, which is used by Orca still work as expected, and nothing as broken with regards to the context of the upstrea bug release.

The verification of this Stable Release Update has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regresssions.
