Bug Description

Problem description:

When attempting a hardware mute the volume mute action is applied correctly and the volume applet correctly displays that the audio output is muted. However, the mute key's LED backlight's responsiveness is flaky at best. Pressing the mute key repeatedly may or may not result in an mute key LED change. This can quickly get out of sync where it's possible for the mute key LED to be lit yet the volume is not actually muted.

Again mute action does actually respond correctly via keypress:

Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined penum
  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 87
  Mono: Playback 63 [72%] [-18.00dB] [on]

  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 87
  Mono: Playback 63 [72%] [-18.00dB] [off]

Software mute does not change status of LED.

Jeff Marcom, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update is available for your BIOS (2.57). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.
