I unplugged the power, then while doing nothing listened for the disk's powerdown. It happened after about 15 seconds, which I think shouldn't happen given the default values (-B is at 127, -S at 36, which would mean 3 minutes before spindown).

 I have Precise with hdparm 9.37-0ubuntu3. The system is a Samsung QX410, the hard disk is reported by hdparm as a "SAMSUNG HM641JI".
