Bug Description

When using apt-cacher-ng, the Packages file downloaded is corrupted.
Restarting apt-cacher-ng fixes the issue.

Version affected: 0.7.2-1ubuntu2.1 in Precise.
Related debian bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=677983

According to the debian bug this was fixed with the following changelog entries:

 apt-cacher-ng (0.7.7-1) experimental; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream releasee
     + pass-through mode for allowed hosts (LP: #647212)
     + possible fixes of file descriptor objects expiration (closes: #677983)

 apt-cacher-ng (0.7.7-2) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Unstable upload (no changes, hope that it closes: #677983)

apt-cacher-ng (0.7.8-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release
     + improved redirection handling (closes: #683803)
     + workarounds for stuck download descriptors (now probably really
       closes:#677983)
   * Cron jobs displays max. 5 recent operation logs (LP: #1074474)

The trick is to find a minimal patch that fixes the issue for the precise version.
