karma, can you add the following to /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/ubuntu-helpers:

# Allow exec of applications in /usr/share
/usr/share/**/* Pixr,

Then do:
$ sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.chromium-browser

Then restart chromium and see if it fixes the error for you?
