This issue can be reproducible on 16G Platform also and below are the possible workarounds found during the experiments on 16G Platform.

1. During Installation of Ubuntu 24.04 when we disable/exclude [] Openssh server package issue won't be reproduced. After reboot and installing openssh server using 'apt-get install openssh-server' system is working as expected.

2. During Installation of Ubuntu 24.04 when we enable/include [x]Openssh server package. we are able to repro the issue.

Thanks,

I have not been able to recreate this issue. I was able to install an R760 with 24.04 with and without enabling openssh during an install using the Virtual Media. Can you try the latest daily build image that was released today?

Hi Micheal,

Still, we are able to repro the issue on 16G with latest build https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily-live/pending/.

Please find the crash files generated during installation failure occurs and dmesg logs for further analysis. Also, when Installation fails 'sosreport' is not generating when we execute the command 'sosreport' on the shell.

Hi Dan Bungert,

Thanks for the information provided. The issue is occurring on multiple systems repeatedly at Ubuntu archive mirror configuration step. Please find the snapshot attached for reference.

Also, the issue occurs with Dell network as well as with public network. I suspect it is a bug in the handling of the archive mirrors.

The most critical problem in these logs are the decompression failures and media read failures I listed in this comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subiquity/+bug/2057454/comments/9. The network items can be resolved, Subiquity cannot be expected to install when bad media is present.

I need you to verify the install media. Please go back to the ISO you're trying to install from, make sure the expected checksum matches what checksum we list for that ISO, and download a new one if necessary.

If you still see problem after verifying the ISO, consider installing by way of USB key instead of your VirtualMedia setup to help narrow which component is failing.

Thanks.

This appears to be resolved with the latest daily build (Beta) for noble. I am going to close this. If the problem returns we can reopen it.

I have same issue. Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS 64-bit ISO was downloaded 10 minutes ago from official website. VM platform is Hyper-V under Windows Server 2022 with latest updates. Package mirrors were changed to de.archive.ubuntu.com, next step was to skip Pro installation for now, and installer crashes. Logs were submitted to Canonical. Attaching my screenshots with mismatch logs.

Not the best impression of new Ubuntu release, two months later, the ISO is still corrupt. :/

UPDATE:

ISO from https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily-live/pending/ dated 2024-04-23 12:46 has same ussue. This bug has NOT been fixed.
