Bug Description

The server debug package will not install on an up to date lucid install.

the most recent dbgsym package at ddebs.ubuntu.com is
Version: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12

The most recent mysql server package is
from updates : 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10
from security: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7
from main: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12

Do only main uploads generate debug packages? Or should security and update packages also generate debug packages?

Installed version is 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
Release: 10.04

$ apt-get install mysql-server-5.1-dbgsym

Hi goraxe, actually 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 from lucid-security is on ddebs.ubuntu.com. I'm not certain though of how those are built or whether or not -updates should be there (I would assume yes it should be).

Assigning to pitti as he is the expert on dbgsym.

The ddeb archive is rather brittle, as it's not integrated in Launchpad, but a horrible hack on the buildds. It seems the 12.10 ddebs are just lost, so the only way to get them back is to do another upload of mysql to lucid-proposed.

Ok, so this will be fixed if and when mysql is uploaded again to lucid-updates or lucid-security.

I presume this is fixed with the current MySQL 5.5 and 5.6 packages in >= Trusty? Marking this bug closed accordingly. If it is still a problem then please do reopen.

As 5.1 doesn't exist, I don't know if Invalid, Won't Fix or Fix Released is appropriate. I don't suppose it really matters - just reopen for attention again if there's still a problem.
