I also have this problem. Both on an Ubuntu 13.10 installation with kernel 3.12 and on a Trusty Tahr installation with kernel 3.12.0.4.6.
A file copy starts fine, but hangs soon after.
My server is a fully updated Ubuntu 12.04 server using RAID 5.1.
