Bug Description

The KVM implementation in the Linux kernel before 3.3.6 allows host OS users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and host OS crash) by making a KVM_CREATE_IRQCHIP ioctl call after a virtual CPU already exists.

Given the differences in the hardy kvm code we feel that it is just too risky to backport this patch without introducing regressions. We also feel that given the maturity of kvm at the time, there probably are very few kvm users on Hardy
