Just to confirm, I still see the problem, and my system is as up to date as
yours:

$ apt-cache policy linux-image
linux-image:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2.6.27.7.11
  Version table:
     2.6.27.7.11 0
        500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages

$ uname -r
2.6.27-7-generic

My system is a Dell Inspiron 630m.
