Bug Description

After performing a fresh installation of Ubuntu MATE 20.04.2.0 on a kvm, when rebooting into the target system the boot splash seems wrong. Only a black screen is presented with the green MATE loading dots moving (as intended).

Assigning to plymouth for now, but I don't think this is the right target.

I noticed sometimes plymouth boots without being able to take a copy of the BIOS logo and the middle of the screen stays blank. It happens to me, sometimes, if I boot with the monitor turned off. Is that what you mean?..
