Bug Description

===SRU Justification===
[Impact]
Packets are silently corrupted on Dell TB16's ethernet.

[Fix]
Disable RX aggregation on new Dell TB16 dock.

[Test]
User confirms the patch fixes the issue.

[Regression Potential]
Low. The workaround already works, we just add a new USB serial to let
new TB16 dock also uses this workaround.

===Original Bug Report===
Hi.

Large amount of data gets corrupted when using the TB16 ethernet port. (rsync synchronization, etc... )

We can confirm this issue on this kernel. Creating new issue as stated in this bug (#1729674)

Linux E7490 4.15.0-29-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 17 15:39:52 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

On my Fedora is this still an issue even with announced bugfix (link copied from this discussion #78.
Linux username-localdomain 4.17.9-200.fc28.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Jul 23 21:41:29 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It's fixed by turning the checksum offload off (tested on the Fedora .
sudo ethtool --offload enp11s0u1u2 rx off

Ok, I think that's because the r8152's serial number on your TB16 is different:

Is there a way to do the checksum turn off to be delivered f.e. through a kernel module which is able to check if it is necessary the change?

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-done-bionic'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-failed-bionic'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!
