Bug Description

[Impact]
These releases provide both bug fixes and new features, and we would like to
make sure all of our users have access to these improvements.

See the changelog entry below for a full list of changes and bugs.

[Test Case]
The following development and SRU process was followed:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NVidiaUpdates

Certification test suite must pass on a range of hardware:
https://git.launchpad.net/plainbox-provider-sru/tree/units/sru.pxu

The QA team that executed the tests will be in charge of attaching the artifacts and console output of the appropriate run to the bug. nVidia maintainers team members will not mark ‘verification-done’ until this has happened.

[Regression Potential]
In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the
aforementioned system level tests are attached to this bug.

[Discussion]

[Changelog]

  [ Alberto Milone ]
  * New upstream release (LP: #2025243).
  * debian/rules{.defs}:
    - Adjust to the changes on the Nvidia servers.
  * debian/rules:
    - Do not start the systemd services on installation or upgrade, as this can
      lead to a black screen.

  [ Dimitri John Ledkov ]
  * debian/templates/control.in:
    - Add breaks&replaces on identical firmware files from other flavour.
      When 535 & 535-server driver versions happen to be at an identical
      upstream version, they both ship identical firmware files on disk at
      the same path. When a user attempts to install two drivers at the same
      time, this results in dpkg file conflict. Allow replacing one firmware
      with another (LP: #2026622).

I looks like a kernel regression to me. The arm64 architecture shouldn't block the SRU.

Cuda based testing of the LRM packages has passed on focal, jammy, lunar and mantic on amd64. These were tested with the generic, nvidia, and gcp flavours.

The testing against bionic did not pass as the generic and gcp kernels currently in ESM proposed for the s2023.08.07 cycle are built against 535.54.03.

  * New upstream release (LP: #2032672):
    - Fixed an issue which caused the following error message to
      appear spuriously when using SLI with the NVIDIA Open GPU
      Kernel Modules:
      (EE) NVIDIA: Unable to disable FB size compare
    - Fixed a bug which prevented DKMS from registering kernel
      modules.

      monitors to flicker by allowing the refresh rate to drop below
      the monitor's minimum.
    - Fixed a bug that caused corruption when running Vulkan
      applications.
    - Fixed a regression that could cause a system hang when running
      windowed Vulkan applications with sync-to-vblank enabled.
    - Fixed a video memory leak observed when turning off a connected
      monitor while using certain Wayland compositors.
  * debian/rules:
    - Strip the binaries.
  * debian/template/control.in:

    - The nvidia-driver-$flavour package relies on DKMS, the
      nvidia-driver-lrm-$flavour is meant to be used with the
      linux-restricted module. They conflict with each other, and both
      depend on the nvidia-driver-core-$flavour meta-package.

    - Rename to debian/nvidia-driver-core-535.docs.
