Bug Description

== SRU Justification ==
The sb_edac needs this patch to enable EDAC to know of the existence of
some DIMMs attached to channels while figuring out the size of the DIMMs
and the cluster mode is SNC2 or SNC4.

All the thread connected with this issue is described here https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-edac/msg08170.html.

Commit 24281a2f4ca569d44e44e4cbc500cf08e7bb4c36 is in mailine as of v4.15-rc1.

== Fix ==
commit 24281a2f4ca569d44e44e4cbc500cf08e7bb4c36

    EDAC, sb_edac: Fix missing DIMM sysfs entries with KNL SNC2/SNC4 mode

== Regression Potential ==
Low. Limited to EDAC checking dimm capacity.

== Test Case ==
A test kernel was built with this patch and tested by the original bug reporter.
The bug reporter states the test kernel resolved the bug.

Please backport the following patch:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=24281a2f4ca569d44e44e4cbc500cf08e7bb4c36 to solve the sb_edac driver issue on Ubuntu 17.10.

Thank you!

I built a test kernel with commit 24281a2f4ca56. The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1743856

Can you test this kernel and see if it resolves this bug?

Note, to test this kernel, you need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

Thanks in advance!

I verfied it with the kernel:
Linux [*]4 4.13.0-36-generic #40~lp1743856 SMP Tue Feb 27 19:57:05 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and the output of the following command:
ls -la /sys/devices/system//edac/mc/mc0/dimm

seems to be good:
dimm0/ dimm1/ dimm2/ dimm3/ dimm4/ dimm5/

Thanks!

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-artful' to 'verification-done-artful'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-artful' to 'verification-failed-artful'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!
