Bug Description
[EDIT] Master SRU fix covered by (LP: #1771606)
Budgie Extras is a set of python based applets that are either preinstalled or are available to be individually installed. They are exclusive only to budgie desktop users and cannot be installed or run on any other desktop environment.
A number of issues have been raised since the 18.04 release. As part of ongoing 18.04 support the Ubuntu Budgie Team proposes to wrap up fixes on a very targeted basis. In this series of SRU's we have wrapped up DR's that have been classified as LOW by the UB dev team. In addition the scope of the change has been assessed to limit the potential of regression. This is to ensure each SRU request is strictly limited in scope with the risk(s) being easily determinable.
[Impact]
The quicknote applet has a text field to hold the directory info. It has been reported that users are entering directory info into this field but quicknote is not respecting the value entered where to save the directory info. This is because there is an additional tickbox to "enable" the capability to save to a directory. The field remains editable even though the initial state of the enabling checkbox is ticked off.
The impact is for Ubuntu Budgie only and anyone running the budgie desktop together with the QuickNote applet.
[Test Case]
1. Using Budgie Settings, check that on a panel the Quicknote applet has been added - please note, the hotcorners applet is installed through the package "budgie-
2. Check that the directory field remains disabled by default.
3. Tick the enable custom directory checkbox
4. The directory field becomes enabled. Choose a known directory.
5. Enter some words into the QuickNote panel applet
6. Open the directory/folder which was chosen. Look at the contents of the QuickNote text file. It will contain the contents shown on the panel applet
7. In Budgie Settings untick the custom directory checkbox
8. Enter some words into the QuickNote panel applet
9. Open the directory/folder which was originally chosen. Look at the contents of the QuickNote text file. This will NOT contain the current contents of the Applet field i.e. demonstrates the applet no longer saves its info to a custom location.
[Regression Potential]
* None.
* Ubuntu Team has independently verified that the fix works.
[Other Info]
None
EDIT:
Original description
The text field to hold the directory info is editable even though the initial state of the enabling checkbox is ticked off. This patch ensures the field is grayed out (sensitive) initially and enabled only when the enabling checkbox is ticked.
