I'm updating to 20.04.1 and received this error. I was seeing this error when trying to update using apt-get prior to this on 19.10. One of the suggested problems was around lxd usage. I'm not using lxd but I am using docker, so I don't know if there is something with that or not.

Thanks for reporting this. Can you provide a list of the packages you have installed using:

dpkg -l

..hopefully then I can try and reproduce this issue and figure out how to resolve this.
