broken conffile symlink left behind on upgrade

Bug Description

The information attached to this report will claim that /etc/zfs/zed.d/ is a modified conffile because it has been "deleted". What it actually is, is a dangling symlink.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 45 Feb 17 2017 /etc/zfs/zed.d/ -> /usr/lib/zfs-linux/zfs/zed.d/

I also have /etc/zfs/zed.d/ which is a real file but has not been installed.

zfs-zed needs to correctly handle this transition on upgrade.

This bug was fixed in the package zfs-linux - 0.7.5-1ubuntu14

zfs-linux (0.7.5-1ubuntu14) bionic; urgency=medium

  * Clean up symlink'd /etc/zfs/zed.d/ (LP: #1757939)
    If an existing zed-functions is a symlink then this needs removing
    as the script in newer ZFS releases is no longer symlink'd and we
    always want to upgrade to the newer updated script.
