Bug Description

I saw a file in the Unity Files Dash and tried to block it from showing up there. While I couldn't block the individual file, I could place it in a separate folder and disable the recording of activity in that. However, while I've done that a while ago, I can still see the file under the Downloads heading in the Unity Dash. (Not sure if that is populated from Zeitgeist - to be sure I also added the Unity Files Lens, but if the problem is there then it is probably also a Unity-wide problem.)

I am not able to reproduce it.
It would be good if someone can post step by step instructions

1. Create a file in the Downloads folder (let's say it's called "test")
2. Open the files lens and search for that file. Note that it is listed (under the heading Downloads).
3. Create a folder in the Downloads folder (let's say it's called "hidden").
4. Move "test" into "hidden".
5. Open Privacy settings.
6. Click the tab Files.
7. Add "hidden" to the list titled "Don't record activity in the following folders".
8. Close Privacy settings.
9. Open the files lens and search for "test". Note how it still shows up.

Expected result: "test" should not show up in step 9.

Can you try these steps

1. Create a file in the Downloads folder (let's say it's called "test")
2. Open the files lens and search for that file. Note that it is listed (under the heading Downloads).
3. Create a folder in the Downloads folder (let's say it's called "hidden").
4. Open Privacy settings.
5. Click the tab Files.
6. Add "hidden" to the list titled "Don't record activity in the following folders".
7. Close Privacy settings.
8. Move "test" into "hidden".
9. Open the files lens and search for "test".

Does it still show yup?

Vincent, the method you explained is not a bug because the folder was blacklisted after the file was moved. When the file was moved, then zeitgeist did now know that this folder has to be excluded.

Now if the steps I mentioned above still shows test in lens, then it is indeed a bug in zeitgeist/activity-log-manager.

If by following steps I mentioned above, the file does not show up, then it means that unity-file-lens is showing the files which have been logged even before blacklist was added.

In that case, you would have to open a bug against unity file lens

@Manish Yes, it still shows up. And even if it didn't, it still is a bug: as soon as you blacklist a folder, it and all the files within it should be forgotten.

Do you not see this bug when you follow the steps I described? I could make a screen recording if it helps?
