Bug Description

Trying to install zabbix-server-pgsql (1:1.4.1-2) would lead to postgresql 8.1 installed while I already have 8.2.
So the dependency should be (>= 8.1)

Attached is a debdiff which solves this problem. I added postgresql-8.2 as a preferred alternative to postgresql-8.1. Either will be used if they are already installed.

Since my security patch was accepted and released the zabbix version got bumped. Here is a new debdiff applied against the current release.

Still present in 8.10. Likely need to adjust this Recommends for postgresql-8.3 instead of postgresql-8.2 or postgresql-8.1.

Changed in zabbix:

Can't it just recommend postgresql ? That should always recommend the latest version then, no?

The Zabbix manual dictates "Postgresql 7.0.x or higher" so i guess that's pretty safe :)

Ok, the 1.6.1 Debian packages have been fixed in CVS. The recommends has been set to postgresql ( without versioning ). It's present in CVS now, but will only be uploaded some time next week. I guess this bug will be fully fixed on its first-year birthday ;) The packages will then be synced to Ubuntu! The status of this can be followed at bug 294604 .
